Up to 73 million people insured under the German health insurance system are entitled to receive DiGA (Digitale Gesundheitsanwendung / Digital Health Application), which can be prescribed by doctors and psychotherapists and is reimbursed by the health insurance companies.
To achieve this, the DiGA must get approval from the BfArM (Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte / German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) and be listed in a new directory of reimbursable digital health applications (DiGA directory). This directory will summarise essential information on DiGA for doctors, psychotherapists and users.
After our first research, ALSAD Medical team has decided to apply for DiGA status in Germany as our solution already meeds the initial conditions, offering both medical benefits (to comply with diet and life style related instructions to support treatment) and “procedural” benefits, enabling doctors and dietitians to monitor the patient’s condition in a non-intrusive, digital way, while configuring personalised dietary plans is made easier for dietitians and nutritionists.
